Download DVD Player for Wii?

tarikyamee

I am having a lot of trouble downloading a DVD player on my Wii. I have downloaded the Homebrew channel with the Twilight hack, and then I put mPlayer on my sd card. I can run that. I know that to play dvds i have to install DVDx. When i go to install it, It doesn't install. I chose the normal install because i dont have any modchips installed. It all goes smoothly until the last two steps.

I get this error message:
Error -2011 installing DVD Stub ticket
Error -2011 installing stub

After researching these issues on the internet for a few weeks, I know this is a common error that "should be fixed somtime soon with an update." Yada yada.

Maybe someone here had any advice that they have found to work. Or, is the Homebrew route the only way to get DVD's to play on a Wii?

Answer
Here's an idea... use a DVD player to watch DVDs.

RIO dvd release date?

Zoethedrag

Answer
It will be released on August 2, 2011.

"Rio will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on August 2, 2011.[39][40] The release will be produced in 3 different packages: a 3-disc "Party Edition" combination package (Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Copy), a 2-disc "Party Edition" combination package (DVD and Digital Copy), and a single disc DVD.[40][41] The "Digital Copy" included with the 3-disc combination package is a separate disc that allows users to download a copy of the film to a computer through iTunes or Windows Media Player software. The 3-disc combination package also comes with an hour of bonus features"

My Sony DVD player says network error occurred when I try to connect to wifi ?

Allistair

Okay so I have a Sony blue ray player and I have at&t and my modem was a 2wire and one day my Internet stopped workin I called AT&T and they said its time for a new box okay so I went to a AT&T store I told them what happen and they gave me a netgear modem ( I think ) and hooked it up and the Internet was running fine.!:) but I used to always watch Netflix movies over wifi with my 2wire so I connected it to my new modem over wifi.! And everytime I try goin on something that uses wifi it says " A network error has occurred " and every once in a while it will let me stream a movie but when I fast FOWARD it says the same thing please help.!;( and resetting the box doesn't work what should I do thanks.!

Answer
Thanks for giving all of that information. Unfortunately, network problems like this are almost impossible to solve without acutally having someone there because there are so many different things that could be causing the problem. My first thought is that you are having some issue with the new modem also acting as a wireless router. Most new AT&T modems also include a wireless router such that your additional 2Wire wireless router is unnecessary. My advice for the quickest, surest solution would be to call AT&T and ask how to enable the wireless feature of your new modem, or else get a wireless router/modem combo from AT&T if you don't already have one. Keep in mind, your 2Wire wireless router may not be compatible with your new modem (I thought 2Wire only produced modem/router combo devices). If that is the case, you can purchase a new wireless router for under $50 that would serve you better than your 2Wire regardless. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions.

Can I connect my network DVD player to my computer?

Tyler

I have a collection of .iso movie files on my hard drive and was wondering if there is any way I could access them on my DVD player through some fancy networking magic. I have a virtual drive that I can mount them to and everything, but it would be nice to watch them on a bigger screen with surround sound. Any help?

Answer
If they are .iso movies you can burn them to plastic and watch them like regular movies on using the DVD player.

The flip side is playing the movies on the computer and connecting the HDMI port on your computer to a TV or projector.

Using a network is the most complicated way to achieve what you're asking.

Where can i buy an AC adapter for my portable DVD player?

angie

i have a samsung portable dvd player model #(DVD-L75)
i bought it off ebay.. it seemed to be in good shape, but the
ac adpater wasnt included.. i was told i couldnt use a universal adapter becuase it would damage the player.. so it needs to be the exact same ac adapter that comes with the package...
i tried ordering through samsung but its almost 60 bucks, i dont want to spend that much...
can anyone suggest a website i can buy it from for cheaper?
Ac to Dc adapter 13.5V/a.2A (AK97-0188A)
i found one off ebay but it doesnt seem reliable... but i'll post the link so you can see what it looks like..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260117279940&ih=016&category=15055&_trksid=p3984.m107&_trkparms=Algo%3DMERI%26ITS%3DQ%252BI%26ITU%3DUCI%26OTN%3D2%26PO%3DOp1#ebayphotohosting
http://www.samsung.com/th/products/dvdplayer/dvdrecorder/images/dvd-l75_side1-m.jpg

thanks!
what stores would sell various types of ac adapters so that i can buy one with 13.5V?? i alrready tried best buy and radioshack...and they didnt have it..
any others? or anything online?

Answer
mmmhmhm - whoever told u u need a particular model or it'll damage the player is just plain wrong! you need to match the voltage(although you could prob' get away with a coupla volts either way - still it isn't worth risking if you don't know what you're doing) but your amperage is irrelevant and your player will work better(sound and pic qual) if you use an adapter with a MUCH higher amp-rating...seriously, the player will only draw as many amps as it wants - u could use a 13.5 volt adapter with thousands of amps and that'd be fine.

in my experience, switch-mode supplies or isolated battery sources will give u the best quality but really, anything will work as long as u match the voltage

EDIT - ADDITIONAL DETAILS - I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU'RE FROM SO GOOGLE IT AND Ebay it locally till you get a reliable enough source for you..

hope that helps

what is "region free DVD player"?

jack

I got a bounch of DVDs from China, but my DVD player(bought in Wal-mart in US) would not read them.

I heard because there is a problem with region code or something. and the only way to play those DVDs are through a region free DVD Player...

can somebody explain to me what that might be, and if possible, where could I find one of those here in US?

Thanks.

Answer
Region coding on dvds is basically done to prevent the sale of dvds from one region to the next because release dates are different in the different regions. It also has something to do with pirate dvd prevention. If you want to pick up a region free dvd player I suggest you surf the web a bit and order one from overseas (Europe). I bought one when I was stationed in Germany. The price is compareable to the US, maybe a bit more. Otherwise I would suggest just sticking to Region 1 discs.

I need to buy a region free dvd player but I need someone to help please.?

LaLa

I purchased some dvd movies for my dad for his birthday and I baught them from ebay. The dvd's are from the u.k. I live here in america. The dvd's I got him do not work. Someone told me if I purchase a "region free dvd player" it will work. My questions are

1. Is the region free dvd player compatiable to with a flat screen LCD t.v.?

2. Are you able to play american dvd's on a region free dvd player?

and is there anything else I need to know? I plan on buying the region free dvd player on ebay.

I would appericate it so much if someone can give me some information before buying one on ebay. Thanks!

Answer
A region free DVD player isn't hard at all to come by, infact 90% of the cheapest youll find in shops are region free .. this is because to save money, the maker makes them for the whole world with every region built in and only when it gets shipped to a certain country it gets it region identity added, but sometimes to save even more money they don't waste cash by installing the region limiter making multi region or region free.

These DVDs are compatibale, its only a tiny bit of software added or never added.

If you can fit a double din radio Id suggest getting a Kenwood in-dash DVD player (model# DDX6019 ). Its has a 6.95" touchscreen and can play DVDs. You can add a navigation unit later on if you want. I got mine from best buy web site(they dont sell it in store). Crutchfield( http://www.crutchfield.com/S-hTRe5VyeCrp/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=113DDX6019 ) sells them too.

Windows 8 Customization?

Lexsy-Love

I just got the Lenovo Yoga Ideapad and was wondering if the start menu is customizable. I would like to add a photo for the background or just a different design. Also, I see that when watching a movie, it makes me watch it in media center NOT windows media player (i dont like it.)

thanks!

Answer
The start screen has a number of backgrounds to choose from but you can't add your own by default.

Thankfully someone has stepped up to the challenge and created a program to do the job.

http://www.ghacks.net/2012/10/21/customize-the-windows-8-start-screen-background/

Windows 8 doesn't have movie DVD playback by default. You can buy a separate DVD playback program or you can download VLC. I suggest VLC, it's free.

No dvd audio in Windows media player or DVD / CD roms?

HI, i have had this problem for a long time now and cannot fix it. I have no audio with any movie dvds in windows media player 11 AND no audio with CD-Roms or games. I have this problem with only windows media player which i can solve by downloading another media player BUT i do not have sound with any CD's or DVDs. Also i can hear movies that i have downloaded from the internet they work fine with audio. Its just mainly CDs or DVDs that have no audio with windows media player 11. Also i cannot hear game sounds aswell. Please help!

Thanks!
Ive downloaded a number of codecs from solutions Ive tried to use from the internet and nothing has changed :(.
And Fug-azi I opened up my computer and i think the cable might be the problem, as there is a cable loose just like the one you posted but i do not know where to insert it to on the motherboard. There is a possible socket which i insnerted it into and when i tried to start my computer it wouldnt start :/.

Answer
You need the audio cable fitted from the back of the DVD/CD player to the socket on the motherboard. For games, movies etc that reside on your hard drive the cable is not required as it is included in the stream, on a CD or DVD the audio is in a seperate stream.

the cable looks like this

http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=CD+audio+cable&hl=en&prmd=ivns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1280&bih=826&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=275075529642459024&sa=X&ei=4DdBTtv-EZGLhQek4si5CQ&ved=0CKIBEPMCMAA

-----------------------------------

You need to get hold of the technical manual for your system, once you have it look for the picture of the motherboard layout, on it should be a socket labelled AUDIO, that is where you need to plug it into.

If you post your system maker and model I'll try to find the manual for you.

Buying a portable dvd player?

poodle

I want to buy one as a present for my husband for when he flys on business (which is often) but I don't want to spend loads on it at all. What is a good deal and what do I need to look for in a portable dvd player? What features should it have and what size should it be etc.

Answer
When shopping for a portable DVD player, keep in mind how you will be using the device. For example, if you plan to use a portable solely in the car to keep the kids occupied on long road trips, then the screen size and the inclusion of an AC adapter, which will allow you to power the player via your vehicle's power outlet, are more important than the unit's weight or the life expectancy of the battery. Conversely, if you are buying a portable DVD player to take with you on long flights, look for a lightweight model with plenty of battery life. If you usually travel with a spouse or colleague, or if you have two kids, opt for a model with dual headphone jacks and a larger screen size so two people can comfortably enjoy a movie while sitting next to each other.

How to burn a MovieMaker movie/file to a dvd to play in home dvd player.?

chichipoo

I tried to add this info onto my previous posted question, but it wouldn't let me. I just want everyone to know the answer to this question!!. (Don't know what all the mystery is about..it was exteremly difficult to ferret out the simple answer that no'one seemed to be able to just spell out. YES..you need to convert the file (wmv or DV-AVI) to mpeg2..but the next step is crucial. You need a dvd 'authoring' program, which further converts your file to VOB (video object) file, which THEN will play in your dvd player. I bought Cucusoft Pro for $29.00 (very fair price) AND it does it all. You simply import your finished movie file, and it does the file conversion, dvd authoring, & the dvd burning...very fast and efficient. Good luck everyone, and happy movie making!
It seems people aren't noticing this was NOT a question, but a SOLUTION to my previous question. I don't need more suggestions, thanks anyway. Just wanted people to know they need a DVD 'AUTHORING' program, 'authoring' being the key word...and VOB being the correct final file type for dvd players. Thanks : )
How frustrating!!! Are we speaking the same language...or are these answers computer generated? Thanks Melie for your answer, which I already referenced as solution in my post. But it's the fact that it FURTHER converts that file to VOB format which is my point. ANY 'converting/authoring' program which does this will work.

Answer
If you want to burn any movies to DVD, then play it well on any DVD player, there is an easy way and the better choice, i have used RZ DVD Creator, it can create standard video DVD from any videos, it can burn mulit videos to one disc, it can auto fit the size, it can directly convert and burn any videos to DVD(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-DL, DVD+DL, etc), such as avi to DVD, wmv to DVD, etc.

Work well on my computer, good quality, easy to use, i like it, following is a step by step guide about Video DVD Creator:

Hope it can help you.

Why can my Sony DVD Player Play Certain Burned Movies?

Q. I have a Sony CD/DVD Player Model DVP NS71HP. My question is I know Sony's Encryption Code is very high for not playing Pirated Movies. But how come it can play Wedding DVD's that my Cousins send me or DVD Movies about their vacation? But if its a Movie I made with Nero or DVD Shrink it won't work? And its not even done by some professional Cameraman, he just did it in his Computer. Maybe I should ask him what software does he use?

Answer
Your DVD that you are trying to burn could have copyright protection, so your dvd player wont read it. It will probally work in a unlocked dvd player if so its because of your dvd..
hope it helped

what stores carry this dvd player and can you buy it on line cheaper? i have usb cables and ports.does ciiircuit city carry it?

Answer
Officemax and Walmart carry "external" DVD drives,..you can also order just the external "carry" case that you put an existing DVD drive you have into and can plug it into a USB port.

USB port for DVD should require no "driver" disk. XP will load automatically, HOWEVER , you do need burning software such as Nero, Roxio, Sonic, etc.

Is there a dvd player available that has a usb port.?

Whats the USB Port used for on my Portable DVD player?

Kyle G

Its not a Charger Slot, Theres another little hole that charges it.. But i am wondering ? Its a Sylvania 7" Swivel Style Portable Dvd player SDVD 7026

Answer
This slot is for USB flash drives. Depending on the player, it will allow viewing of your picture files, and/or your music files, and, if you are lucky, you can view movie files, all stored on your PC and copied to a thumb drive. While I don't think there any players out yet than do this (there will be), it could also be used to connect external hard drives containing your picture, music, and/or movie files.
Get a cheap thumb drive and load it to see what this player can do. Not all players with USB ports can read everything. And, many have limits on the storage drive capacity, so, try a 1 GB or less drive first.
Learn from me, check to see what the player can read via the USB port, before you buy.

If you burn a disc in a another country(Pakistan),and if you bring it home can it work on a dvd player,or comp?

Jason

For Example if i burn a disc in Pakistan, and bring it home to United States, would it still be working on any computer or DVD player.if not tell me which computer or DVD player can it work.thanks

Answer
It depends if it is NTSC or PAL encoded. Region has no bearing, since home burned DVDs usually cannot be region coded.

Some North Amercian players can play PAL fine, some simply won't. It tends to be the off-brand "import" players than can play PAL, rather than the major Japanese or S.Korean brands.

If you burn a disc in a another country(Pakistan),and if you bring it home can it work on a dvd player,or comp?

Jason

be specific please

Answer
Yes sure on a dvd player but you computer might not have the required CODEC in which case you will need to download one online.

A portable DVD player isn't an external DVD drive - which is what you need if you want to connect it to the computer.

Is there any DVD player in the market that can stream Netflix?

Uppili Vij

I am not looking for a Blu-Ray player and I am not looking for a streaming only Roku. :)

Answer
An Xbox can be a DVD player and can stream Netflix.
Linksys used to have a DVD player/media Extenter combo, but it may be cheaper to buy a DVD player + Roku box.

are there any dvd players that only stream netflix? No other internet capability?

I need a DVD player that only has Netflix. So no Pandora or youtube or any other internet capability.

Answer
You will not find a Blu Ray player with Netflix only (DVD players do not offer net services). Just because you have a service available does not mean that you have to activate it.

Portable dvd drive for MacBook Pro?

laurenmf12

I will be getting the retina display late 2013 (please don't comment on how I shouldn't be getting it) and need a portable disk drive. Since the resolution is so high, I didn't want to get the regular apple dvd drive.

I was wondering of I was able to purchase the Samsung portable blue ray player, it can play blue ray, regular dvd as well as burning disks. Would that work for a MacBook Pro?

Here's the link: Check this out on AMZN: Samsung SE-506BB/TSBD 6X USB2.0 External Slim Blu-ray Writer Drive (Black)

Answer
Yes it will work with a Mac but you will need BluRay software to watch BluRay discs...

Answer
If you think you have to have a Blue Ray drive (you don't unless you are playing Blue Ray discs - this has nothing to do with the Retina display), I like the LaCie products a LOT better

DVD recorder?

Q. anybody have a DVD recorder? im thinking of buying one because right now what we have is a regular camcorder, and it sucks when i have to transfer it to a VHS tape (which is already obsolete) for my mom.
questions:
1. with the DVD recorder -- can you really actually watch it as is on your DVD player?
2. is it rewritable? let's say you were to film an event for only 30 minutes and you still have some space left -- can you add more filming to that? and let's say there is a section of the film that you don't like, can you record on top of that?
3. any good brands? any recommendations?
4. is it worth it?

im just asking it over here because i come home late at night and the stores are already closed so i can't really ask the people who work there. i want to give it as a gift to my mom, and hopefully it's easy to use. she's been bringing this bulky camcorder everywhere and it's heavy for her. i saw that the dvd recorder is lighter.

Answer
#1 yes....a dvd recorder is awesome
#2.....it's rewriteable..depending on the blank dvds you buy..you'll have to buy rewriteable dvds
#3...you get what you pay for...if you want a good one, then you'll have to fork over some decent money. Try looking at Consumer Reports
#4 yes, I think you'll like it. They'll last a lot longer than a vhs tape...and easier to store or transport with you.

I really think a DVD recorder is an awesome thing, especially as a present for your mom. This is an excellant idea on your part. Go ahead with your bad self. I'm sure your mom will love it. Best of luck to you...........

DVD recorders...?

P.Y.T.

I just want to make sure....can I empty the photoes I take with a dvd camcorder or a DV camcorder in to a DVD by a DVD recorde? & is it( the dvd recorder) & a dvd player the same machien??!which model or brand do U recomend?

Answer
Some DVD camcorders take pictures and video. Some Camcorders record photos on the original media by freezing a frame of video, some have a separate media for the photos.

The camcorder will play video taken with the camcorder on tv's and you can transfer the video to computers to edit and make videos, DVD and/or VHS. I have heard of some camcorders that record to DVD recorders and make DVD's directly, but you don't get to edit those videos.

My recommendation is to get a photo camera to take photos and a camcorder to take video. A camcorder that takes pictures doesn't take very good pictures and a photo camera that takes video doesn't take very good video. Get a camera for each.

If you want a combo, I would determine which is most important to you, Video or Photos and get the camera that will give you the best quality for that mode of recording. So, if video is most important to you, get a camcorder and get one with the best photo capabilities you can afford. BUT be mindful, if you start to pay too much, it may be more econimical to own a separate photo camera.

Get a Camcorder that records DV either on tape or on small media DVD's. Get a camera that can record at least 3 megapixels. You can go as high as 6 megapixels, but 5 is good enough and 3 is the minimum for 4x6 photos.

You must choose the best model or brand depending on your priorities, but major name brands can be had for good prices, Sony, Samsung, JVC, RCA. Panasonic, Canon. I would avoid Bu Bu Gao because I'm sure they have no authorized service locations in the US.

Good Luck and Happy Shopping.

A question about DVD and VCR player/recorder.?

L3

How can you tell if your player, that plays both DVD and VHS also records? I mean I'm pretty sure it does record, since I believe there is a record button on it. But would that be the type of 'recorder' that is needed to convert a VHS onto DVD, or is a 'DVD and VCR player/recorder' something completely differenet. And if not, how would one go about doing it?

In case you couldn't tell, I don't have a lot of electronics know how.
So there's no way to use just my player to convert my VHS that I already have recorded, onto a dvd?

Answer
It sounds like you have a VHS recorder/ DVD player unit. A unit like that will not convert a VHS tape into a DVD. What you need is a VCR recorder/DVD recorder.

If you let us know the make and model it should be easy to research online what type you have.

How should I choose which car DVD player??

Travis Hu

How should I choose which car DVD playerï¼
1.Specification()
2.Product Parameter(Navigation,Bluetooth,iPod Control etc)
3.Installation guidebook?
4.The best online store?

Answer
I am glad to answer your question. As your know, the car DVD player is used for navigation and entertainment, so you should focus on the navigation function and entertainment experienceã

If you like classic style, then you should choose button style, but I think the touch screen style should be better for you. Now the most of DVD player integrated cellphone function through Bluetooth, so the Bluetooth is necessary. Enjoy music, the iPod must be in your DVD player. The most important is the navigation map should auto update or can download new map from internet.

About installation, I think you choose a good auto repair shop to help you.

From my personal experience, I find http://www.autodvdgps.com is a good online store, they have good product, warm service. If you need buy a car DVD player, I advise you to choose this online store.

what is a good DVD player that streams Netflix?

Mike

i don't care about Blu-ray or HD-DVD's, just want a regular DVD player that streams Netflix. would be good if it played VHS too, but doubt they make those anymore. user friendly, price range $150 tops
can you play regular DVDs on a Blu-ray player?

Answer
DVD player that streams Netflix? - XBOX 360
You can also stream netflix on a Wii or ps3.

You're not gonna find just a plain dvd player that does Netflix. You're going to need a Blu-ray player.

DVD discs can not have internet features. Blu-ray discs can

A lot of Blu-ray discs have an online feature called BD-Live (Blu-ray Disc Live), so most blu-ray players go online for BD-Live, so a lot of blu-ray players will include other internet features like you tube and Netflix

That vizio someone else mentioned is a Blu-ray player. Vizio doesn't even make regular dvd players

UPDATE because of your "additional details": Update - yes, Blu-ray players play DVDs and CDs. DVD players do not play Blu-ray Discs

Is there a type of mini DVD player that will allow you to get on the internet and watch netflix movies?

mikki

Answer
Dvd player that connects to the internet and plays Netflix streaming movies?

I'm afraid I haven't heard of such a thing either. But there's a good workaround this, you can for example record Netflix streaming movies for later watching on the mini dvd player or some other portable device.

I for one use some Audials software whenever I need to timeshift Netflix streaming movies or anything like that.

It actually works pretty great to record streaming movies from Netflix plus I also get to convert the recorded Netflix videos to whatever format I need for easier watching on any of my devices.

You should also give it a shot, should work good for your problem.

do you own a portable dvd player?

M

which brand did you buy
Which brand and what model / screen size

Ryn, thanks but I'm a girl as you can see. :P

Answer
No. The kids do though. They are all either broken or will be broken soon. My "better half" buys them at Walmart. I won't set foot in that place. That's at least part of the reason for the high failure rate. That they are junk purchased at Walmart, not the fact that I won't shop there myself.
