Looking for a DVD/VHS Player/Recorder Combo?

joal1185

Hi, I've found this one: TOSHIBA RD-XV50KF DVD/VHS Player/Recorder Combo. But I need to know if it records on DVD from VHS and if i can download any manual for full technical specification. Any suggestions will be appreciated :) Thanks
Need an internal hard disk also!

Answer
this model has internal hard drive and can record a DVD from the VHS playback. However, no DVD recorder works with VHS movies that have MacroVision copy protection, they will just record your home recorded and camcorder VHS tapes.

Problem connecting DVD player to TV/VCR Combo?

Q. I recently inherited an old Panasonic Omnivision VCR Plus TV/VCR combo. I just plugged it in, set up the channels and stuck in a VHS tape. It works. Intending to set this up in a spare room for guests, I thought it would be nice to connect a DVD player to this as well. The TV only has two jacks on the front though: one video and one audio input. So, I plugged in these cables and connected them to the corresponding video and audio outputs on the DVD player. I get a picture but...no sound. Is there anything I can do to fix this??

Thank you.

Answer
You can convert vhs to a dvd , then play the dvd on DVD Player, here are two methods to convert VHS to DVD.
1. use dvd recorder: not need vcr and software, just record videos from vhs to dvd.
here is a guide: http://www.dvdvideosoftware.org/guide/top-7-dvd-recorder-vhs-vcr-combinations.html

2. use VCR and Software, connecting video cables, installing software, burning DVD's.

Thinking of Purchasing an HD DVD player?

Mscott21

It has just been announced that HD DVD is not being made any more and they are now obsolete.

I can now buy a new HD DVD player for about 85 dollars and all of the movies are very cheap.

Is it safe to still buy one to collect all of the high def movies?

Answer
We recently purchased the Toshiba A-3 HD-DVD player and it works great for playing regular DVDs (Standard Definition, or SD) upconverted to our Plasma 50" HDTV. We have really noticed the difference with HD-DVDs. If you have a new HDTV 42" or higher, it's amazing.

Something you should keep in mind is that HD-DVD movies will be re-released in Blu-Ray, but there is a shortage of Blu-Ray Discs, so the Studios who originally supported HD-DVD may take a long time to convert their movies. And don't expect Blu-Ray movie sale prices to drop below $15 anytime soon (check gizmodo.com).

Also, we have a few movies both in Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, and the audio for the HD-DVD versions with our THX-certified Audio Receiver works great. Movies in HD-DVD are cheaper and harder to find, so buy them while you can because the Blu-Ray versions will not be visually better than HD-DVD.

Can I play HD DVDs in a standard DVD player?

What video format do portable DVD players play?

Q. im a making a DVD 2 play on my portable DVD and i .AVI and .MP4 and they dont work

what format should i convert my vids 2 next for it 2 work on my player?

i have the model polaroid dvd player pdv-0713B

Answer
All DVD players play the DVD-Video format, which is a DVD-specific format which uses MPEG, but is far different than simply dropping an MPEG file onto a DVD-R.

Others play DivX or XViD AVIs, but probably no others.. AVI is really a computer format, since it's just a container.. there can be any kind of video or audio inside. A computer can see something it doesn't know, ask you to download it, etc. A DVD player doesn't have room for downloads, even if it did have the internet connection.

You need to create a DVD-Video disc in order to play this on you Polaroid. It does suppoort DVD-R/RW... but it still needs to be a DVD-Video disc. This requires some kind of DVD creation or authoring program.

If you're technically inclined, you can find some free tools to help with this on http://www.videohelp.com. but they can be a bit complex to use. They also have a list of commerical and shareware apps on VideoHelp.

How to connect dvd player to wireless network?

ricky c

I have a sony dvd player in my living room. The dvd play only has hdmi and ethernet inputs and supports Netflix. I was wondering how to connect the dvd player to the wireless modem i have in the other room. I'm completely lost.

Answer
Your DVD Player doesn't have wireless capabilities, but supports a network connection. You have several options

1. Move your router
2. Move your DVD player
3. Run a long cable to the router
4. Buy yourself one of those wireless devices that'll give you a jack right there at the player
5. Set a laptop near the player & ad hoc the network
6. Wire your entire house with network (be sure to put a jack by the player)
7. Buy a wireless dvd player & sell the one you got
8. Setup an additional router as a repeater & set it next to your player
9. Scrap the idea all together, go get a roku or a ps3 to watch netflix
10. That's bout all I got right now.

car dvd players?????

Q. are these worth it? what are some good brands?

Answer
I have an older model van and didn't want to put the expense into installing a DVD player in it permanently. We looked into portable DVD players but they seemed unstable and would mount lower than we wanted (most of them mounted in-between the front head rests so that people in the back seat would have a hard time seeing the screen) When we were getting ready to drive to Utah with small children we realized we needed something to keep them entertained. Then we found a dual screen portable DVD player and we love it. It is an RCA 7" 16:9 Portable DVD Player with Dual TFT-LCD Monitors. The two screens can be mounted separately and attach to headrests. (We put one on the front seat headrest and the second on the middle seat headrest) The screen is also the DVD player so there are only the two parts with a cable running between them. The nice thing about the one that we bought is that you can take it with you into a hotel room and it will play the DVD on a regular TV and it also comes with video games that can be played either while the second screen is watching a movie or displayed on a TV. (the video games aren't high graphics but are geared towards younger kids, although we had fun playing them too. Some of them are 80's knock-offs like frogger and centipede) The $200 was well worth the hours of quiet (non-fighting) travel time. Good luck!

How should I choose which car DVD playerï¼?

Q. How should I choose which car DVD playerï¼
1.Specification()
2.Product Parameter(Navigation,Bluetooth,iPod Control etc)
3.Installation guidebook?
4.The best online store?

Answer
I am glad to answer your question. As your know, the car DVD player is used for navigation and entertainment, so you should focus on the navigation function and entertainment experienceã

If you like classic style, then you should choose button style, but I think the touch screen style should be better for you. Now the most of DVD player integrated cellphone function through Bluetooth, so the Bluetooth is necessary. Enjoy music, the iPod must be in your DVD player. The most important is the navigation map should auto update or can download new map from internet.

About installation, I think you choose a good auto repair shop to help you.

From my personal experience, I find http://www.autodvdgps.com is a good online store, they have good product, warm service. If you need buy a car DVD player, I advise you to choose this online store.

How do you use windows media player on windows 7?

Q. I just bought a new laptop (h.p) and I want to put all my music cd's on my computer. I never had problems with WMP on Windows XP or previous editions. But now I can't figure it out. I put a cd in and it starts playing. I click stop. There is no option to copy. And when I click "rip" and gives me an error message. I can't even drag the songs onto another folder or my desktop or anything. What do I do? Please help, how do I copy songs from a CD on to my computer? It really shouldn't be this hard. WTF? I'm seconds away from throwing my laptop out the window and beating it with a bat. This is beyond aggravating. I thought windows 7 was suppose to be easier???????????

Answer
Did you buy the DVD? If you did, there is a very large chance it is protected with DRM and cannot have any of the information copied or changed. Really, DON'T TRUST WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER!
If it works, try copying the files in the DVD to your Documents folder or your C drive. This should work. Then, try playing it with VLC Media Player (find it online). Since the file should be a .vob file, it should play perfectly fine on VLC.
When you click "rip", WMP would think that you are trying to burn a video to a DVD. Instead, you are playing directly FROM the DVD that the file is from, so you would get an error.
For Windows XP and lower: To copy, click Start, then My Computer. Then right-click the DVD and click Explore. Click the .vob files in the DVD and copy them (Ctrl + C). Then go to you destination folder and Paste it (Ctrl + V).
For Windows Vista or higher: To copy, click the Windows logo in the bottom left, then Computer. Then right-click the DVD and click Explore. Click the .vob files in the DVD and copy them (Ctrl + C). Then go to you destination folder and Paste it (Ctrl + V).
There you go! Note: Windows 7 is actually a little more frustrating, because many programs don't work with it. Just get used to it.

How do I reinstall a DVD player and driver on my computer without having to reinstall windows 7?

Q. The driver that I have for my DVD drive in my computer is starting to make me frustrated. The only thing my computer will do when I try to reinstall the device is it says CD Drive under the 'computer' heading and now I can't even play movies. When I go online to try and find the driver for my dvd player it won't even pull anything up. It's like the driver for my dvd player burner doesn't even exist anymore. What should I do?

Answer
it should be built into windows. try rolling back the drivers. if not, unplug the drive, fire the machine up and let windows configure the machine as needed (figure out the drive is not there anymore (will just take a few seconds). shut it down. plug it in and fire it back up. it should be detect and install the drivers. make sure the bios is set right also. if that fails, you might have to update the drivers, go advanced and check the search removable media, make sure the install disk is in. one of those should work. kinda an odd situation... what happened to the stock drivers?

How do I hook up my DVD player to my HDTV?

Mary Elise

I have a samsung flat-screen HDTV and a comcast cable box. I am trying to hook up my toshiba DVD player to the cable box. I plugged the DVD player into the outlet in the back of the cable box. I pressed the TV/VCR button on my cable remote and the screen goes blue.Tell me if i need to put anymore info.

Answer
Ok from what I'm following you with you have an HDTV and a comcast box and a DVD player. It really depends on how you're connecting your comcast box to the television and what types of connections you have available on your HDTV. Your comcast box can go into HDMI slot 1 and your DVD player can go into HDMI slot 2 if it is available. Otherwise your DVD player can plug into the back of the television using component cables, (red, blue, green) cables. It sounds like you have power going to the DVD player, but no signal coming out of it to go into the actual televison. Power lines and signal lines are completely different.

Do I need an upscaling DVD player with my new HDTV?

g c

Hello. I Just got a Panasonic TH-42PX60U. I have an older Panasonic DVD-S35 DVD player (progressive scan). I'm about to go out and buy component cables (not S-video cable which is the only other plug in the back of the dvd player).

Should I buy the component cables or just go buy a new upscaling DVD player?

Thanks from a true newbie.

Answer
Just use the DVD player you have for now. Component cables will get you great picture quality and you will be able to take advantage of the progressive scan capabilities of your DVD player with these as well. Make sure you enable this option on your DVD player. It will either be in the on screen setup menu or as a switch on the unit itself.

You're TV has a built in upscaler that will automatically scale the 480p resolution sent out by your DVD player to the native resolution of the display. The reason why upconverting DVD players exist is just because they have chips that try to do it better than the built in upscalers. Some DVD players excel at this and some do it no better or even worse than the TV.

Will it make a difference if you had a very good quality upconverting DVD player such as an OPPO? Yes it would make a difference. Is it worth dumping a perfectly good DVD player and buying a $200+ one? No. The difference in picture quality will be minimal and mainly discernable in text. Most people will not be able to tell the difference watching the actual movie from normal viewing distances.

Also, when you go buy component cables, DO NOT let them sucker you into Monster or other expensive cables that will claim to increase your picture quality. Either get a generic phillips or something brand for fairly cheap or buy them from www.monoprice.com. Try not to spend over $20 for a 6 foot cable.

Enjoy your television. It is an excellent plasma.

P.S. turn the video settings off "Vivid" and to "standard". Vivid will oversaturate some colors and make things look unnatural.

I wanted to buy a movie in a blu ray disc.To watch the movie in 3d, I want to know if I need to buy it as a 3d blu ray disc or just a blu ray disc. In other words will my 3d blue ray player/ 3d TV be able to convert a 2d disc into 3d, OR do I need to buy a 3d blu ray disc to do this?

For the movie to be good 3D, you need a disc that has a 3D movie on it. Some players can convert 2D to 3D but that doesn't work remotely as well as 3D source material.

Answer
If its a temporary situation you could get a portable DVD player and use head phones or connect it into the cars system temporarily but they also make DVD head units for cars that run on 12 volt systems, and fit in the dash...there are also portable units that strap to the head rest and are made for back seat viewing...

What kind of DVD/Blu ray player can I get that uses only coaxial cables? I have a satellite box/older tv.?

missindy67

I bought a new model blu-ray/DVD player but it wouldn't work because my tv is older model and I need coaxial cables instead of HDMI. What kind of player can I get that still has this option?

Answer
You would need to buy a model that was made before January of 2011 there are some available but they are usually expensive compared to newer ones... also some newer blue ray disks will not play in it if you try and do an update to it it may disable the Composite function...or even the whole player....and only HDMI will work if its connected to the Internet it may try and do the update on its own which would also disable the player in fact some blu ray disks simply by placing it in the player and pressing play may disable it....

Sony re-branding of Philips DVD players?

LibraryFan

I read in a review that Sony's DVP-SR200P DVD player is just a re-branded Philips machine. My question is whether all of Sony's DVD players are re-branded from Philips, including Sony's DVP-NS710H and DVP-SR500H. Philips has some products labeled "DVP" itself. Does anyone know if this is the case, specifically with the latter two machines? Why would a company re-brand another's machine?

Also, does anyone own either the DVP-NS710H or -SR500H and can give a review of their quality? Thanks!

Answer
Phillips has been the innovator in dvd players much like sylvannia made most of the old picture tubes.
I don't think you will ever find out for sure if Phillips is making dvd players for Sony. But a lot of appliances do the same thing.
I do know that Phillips is coming out with the first dvd player that will play all dvds in Full Screen.

Here's a decent site for reviews http://www.cnet.com

Can you hook a dvd player up to an acer iconia A500-10S16w?

Can you hook a dvd player up to an acer iconia A500-10S16w tablet?
If so what kind? a normal kind or one made for a computer? Thanks.
Leah :)

Answer
There is no way to connect a DVD player. The acer iconia A500-10S16w has no "Video input" as far as I know. The alternative would be a dvd ripping software that can rip a dvd to acer tablet compatible video files for watching a dvd movie on acer tablet ... Below is a dvd ripper app i ever used for my tablet, it is not bad. You can check it via the link in the source box if interest:

Q. Want to know the price scope and the practical size

Answer
First make sure if you have a sliding sun roof that it clears the roof rolling back. I do and it works fine. slim unit will minimize someone accidentally hitting their head. You want one the swivels so if you have only one rear seat passenger the screen can be pointed in their direction if you like, or turn it all the way around so when your parked you can watch from drivers seat. Other than that installation is the big thing. Find someone or a company that does good work and make sure their is a separate fuse is installed with the unit. size 12 inch scrreen. about seven houndred unit and install or less.
