Shariful I

I want to know about windows 7 and windows 8 operating system. Their system requirements and some information.

Answer
Windows 8 and 7 pretty much have identical system requirements.

Windows 8
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/system-requirements

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2
RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver

Windows 7
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/system-requirements

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

As their names imply, Windows 8 is newer than 7. 8 is faster to start, handles battery life better, has improved security, and supports new tech like USB 3.0 right out of the box.

Windows 8 lacks a DVD decoder so you can't watch movie DVDs but it handles programs that come on DVDs like some games do these days. VLC is a free media player that has it's own DVD decoder built in so it's not really that big a deal.

The big change for Windows 8 is the new start screen, switcher, and charms bar. The start screen is like a full screen start menu. User's pin their favorite programs to the start screen and arrange them in any order. Instead of icons, the start screen has tiles that represent programs.

The start screen runs it's own kind of program called an app. Apps are downloaded from the Windows Store and run full screen by default. Apps don't have the usually controls and don't run in windows so you won't see window borders, title bars, minimize, maximize, or close buttons. What's neat is that apps can also display useful information on their program tiles. For example, a weather app can automatically show you the current weather condition and temperature on it's tile without you having to actually open the app. The mail app can tell you when you have new messages without running it, etc. So you can get a lot of information by simply going from the desktop to the start screen and reading the tiles.

The new interface takes some getting used to but once you have it down it's really not a big a deal as some say it is.

I run Windows 8 on my desktop and have no touch screen so I can assure you, it works fine with a keyboard, mouse, or laptop trackpad.

What should I use to get my Dazzle video transfer cable recognized?

fcojavaa

I have a Dazzle video transfer unit for converting VHS signal to digital. I bought it some five years ago and transferred some videos and forgot it. Now I attach the VHS to my laptop and it cannot recognize anything. I guess I need some drivers. The DVD it came with cannot install in my Windows 8 demo laptop. How to get to get the f-------ng signal from the VHS player? Some freebie you know of?

Answer

Who thinks The Wii is the only video games console thats a pure gaming console not a dvd player or a computer?

The PS3 and the Xbox 360 are bunch of dvd player and a computer and not a video games consoles like the wii or the Nintendo ds also the ps3 and the 360 also are ps2 and xbox with updated graphics nothing else and at least Nintendo tried something new with the wii and Nintendo is the 1st came up the idea with motion controls not Sony but Nintendo and Nintendo had motion control with the power glove so Sony is not the 1st to have motion controls but Nintendo.

Answer
JD: Really? You need good graphics for a pure game console? Right. That makes perfect sense. It doesn't matter if the gameplay is good, but if the graphics are good? OK, I've got an idea: Stop playing video games, and buy a REALLY good camera. Then take a bunch of pictures with that. You see? That has REALLY good graphics! Meanwhile, leave the video games to the people who actually PLAY games.

Anyway, to respond to your question: I would have to agree with you... well, for the most part, anyway. You have to admit that without the Wii Motion Pus, the controls are pretty gimmicky. That, and the Wii, wasn't actually the first console to use motion controls. Look up the XavixPORT sometime. It was released 2 years before the Wii, and still uses motion controls. Yes, the Power Glove came FAR before both the Wii AND the XavixPORT, but the XavixPORT was the first console to exclusively use this technology. Anyway, I will agree that the Wii is the console that focuses more on the games. It would be nice to have a DVD player, but the Wii clearly focuses on the gameplay value more than the PS3 and Xbox 360, and still would even with a DVD player. If you didn't know, the 3DS is going to have the capability to play 3D movies. Still, Nintendo themselves even said that the games are the most important part of a console, and that the 3DS focuses on the games. (And with a pretty awesome starting lineup) Although, I will be honest, if the 3DS's camera can take 3D video, that would be awesome! Even though it should be just a game console, I really wouldn't care at that point.

(By the way, 3D isn't just a gimmick. there are some really cool elements game developers could do with 3D.)

Steven

I am looking for either a mountable or headrest-inserted DVD player for my car. I would prefer if each screen could play separate movies, but that is not a contingency. The main thing is that I would like to be able to control the player from the front seat without having to turn around and push any buttons (stopping to change DVD is ok). Cost is a factor, but quality and features are a must. Thanks.

To start, I know nothing about setting up a tv. What wires and equipment do i need to hook my DVD player & wii?

Jared

Try to go into as much detail as possible since I know nothing about this. I want to be able to plug my wii, DVD player, and have the free digital local channels ( I don't have dish network) plugged into some sort of receiver in a cabinet that's on the floor, and run the wires from the receiver behind the drywall to connect to the tv above. What is needed to do this?

Answer
- If you cannot use hdmi, then you need a different cable option.
- I want to point out that if you have a output device (dvd, wii) that does not have matching ports on input device (receiver, tv) and those ports use different signals, then you need a active converter box. (Example: Component to hdmi converter).

- This is the best way to hook up your devices by using a hdmi cable for hd audio and hd video:
- 1st hdmi cable to hdmi output on device to hdmi input on receiver for hd audio, then 2nd hdmi cable to hdmi output on receiver to hdmi input on tv for video (hdmi video passthroughs to tv untouched).
- Receiver menu -> manual setup -> hdmi setup -> hdmi audio setup -> send audio to amp (not passthrough to tv).

= (Video cables: DisplayPort, HDMI or DVI carry digital video). (DVI, VGA, Component, Scart, S-Video, or Composite carry analog video).
- DisplayPort cable (v1.2 four lane link): Up to 4096x2160p/24bpp/60hz or 2560x1600p/48bpp/60hz or 1920x1080p (48bpp/120hz or 24bpp/240hz or 24bpp/120hz for 3D). (DP v1.1a two lane link is similar to high speed HDMI v1.4).
- HDMI cable (v1.4): Standard speed up to 1920x1080i/24bpp/60hz or 1280x720p/24bpp/60hz. High speed up to 4096x2160p/24bpp/24hz or 3840x2160p/24bpp/30hz or 2560x1600p/24bpp/60hz or 1920x1080p (48bpp/60hz or 24bpp/120hz or 24bpp/60hz for 3D). (HDMI v1.0 to v1.2, high speed is similar to DVI-SL, standard speed is similar to component).
- DVI cable: Single-Link up to 1920x1080p/24bpp/60hz. Dual-link up to 2560x1600p/24bpp/60hz.
- VGA cable: Up to 2048Ã1536p/24bpp/85hz.
- Component-video cable: Can do up to 1920x1080p/24bpp/60hz, but most devices only allow up to 1920x1080i/24bpp/60hz or 1280x720p/24bpp/60hz.
- Scart > S-Video > Composite-video cables: Up to 720x480i/24bpp/60hz (NTSC countries) or 720x576i/24bpp/50hz (PAL/SECAM countries).

= (Audio cables: DisplayPort, HDMI, S/PDIF Optical, or S/PDIF Coxial carry digital audio). (Red/White or Headphone jack carry analog audio).
- DisplayPort (v1.0 to v1.2) or HDMI (v1.3 to v1.4) cable: Up to 7.1/24bit/96khz or 5.1/24bit/192khz (192khz for PCM). Up to 8 channels (7.1) uncompressed PCM and lossless compression surround sound formats DTS-HD-MA or Dolby TrueHD and lossy compression surround sound formats DTS-HD-HR, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS 96/24, DTS-ES Discrete, DTS, or Dolby Digital.
- S/PDIF Optical or S/PDIF Coxial cable: Up to 5.1/20bit/48khz (96khz for DTS 96/24 and 192khz for PCM) (or 6.1 DTS-ES Discrete) (24bit optional). Up to 2 channels (2.0) uncompressed PCM and lossy compression surround sound formats DTS 96/24, DTS-ES Discrete, DTS, or Dolby Digital.
= Tip: If you have a receiver (input deveice) and/or output device that does not support DTS-HD-MA, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD-HR, or Dolby Digital Plus bitstreams, you can tell your output device to decode it into PCM and then send it over the hdmi cable to the receiver.

= Other cable options. You need a converter if you want to go from digital to analog (example: hdmi to vga converter) or analog to digital (example vga to hdmi converter).
- DisplayPort male to HDMI or DVI female passive adapter cable or DisplayPort male to VGA female active adapter cable, (all three cables carry video of at least 1920x1080p/24bpp/60hz), (DVI or VGA do not carry audio, HDMI cable have optional audio up to 7.1/24bit/192khz), (all three cables only work from male to female direction).
- DVI-D single-link to HDMI cable or DVI-A single-link to VGA cable, (both cables carry video of at least 1920x1080p/24bpp/60hz), (both cables do not carry audio), (both cables work in either direction).
- 2.5/3.5 (w/e size) headphone to Red/White RCA cable (It's analog stereo/2.0 audio), (no video), (works in either direction).

What is the order of installation for HDTV-set top box-DVD/VHS recorder?

neonlighti

I have to use componet jacks for the HD signals - the problem is that I can only recieve basic cable channels on the dvd.vhs player/recorder - I want to be able to recieve all the channels on my set top box on my dvd/vhs player/recorder also

Answer
Looks like your only option is to split the component signal out from your set top box to the TV and the recorder, then connect the output from your recorder to your TV for playback.

Another bummer: your recording and TV viewing options are limited to what your set-top box is set to at the moment, unless you split the coax signal to your set-top box and recorder and make sure you only record your basic analog cable channel while watching your digital or HDTV channel at the same time.

How do you connect a ps2 to a car dvd player?

Matt

I am going on a trip in my familys holden captiva which has a portable dvd player inbuilt and i was wondering how to connect my ps2 to the portable dvd player. I have heard that you need a power inverter that goes into the lighter, is this correct. And also what cords do you need to plug it into the actual dvd player? Thx if you could help.

Answer
That's just plain lazy parenting. depending on your kids ages plan stops at intervals so the kids can get out, play and stretch. that's better for them and for you.

I would like to add that this is what my family and from come some of my favorite trip memories. take the chance to really bond and have some fun as a family on the way to your destination not just once your there. your trip starts when you leave home not when you get to your destination

Can I connect my Xbox 360 to a DVD player using a optical cable to take advantage of 5.1 surround sound.?

SSJ Marco

I want to connect my 360 to a upconverting dvd player connected to my hdtv via hdmi. The dvd player is connected to a 5.1 receiver via "red & white" plugs that doesn't have an optical cable input. Is it possible to connect everything together? Xbox to DVD to both Receiver and HDTV?

Answer
X-box, PS3, Blu-ray and HD-DVD players have the same connections as a standard DVD player, such as Composite, S-Video, and Component video. OUTPUTS as well as Analog Stereo and Digital Optical and Digital Coaxial Audio OUTPUTS.
By utilizing the receiver it provides the capability to switch between your different components, i.e Xbox, DVD, and uses its internal amplifier to drive your speakers for audio and push the video to your display. Just look as to what is labled an OUTPUT and what is INPUT.

What dvd player is best for a panasonic th-50ph9uk plasma display?

Knowme2wel

My boyfriend just bought on a few weeks ago and his birthday is coming up soon. I've been reading and some forums suggest to purchase an upconverting dvd player. Is this what's best for this particular display? I'm not sure and I need some help.

Answer
I dont recommend an up-converting DVD player these days when both HD-DVD players and some BluRay players are available for not much more.

The up-converting players are not true HD. They take standard def, magnify it and fill in some lines so it fills the space of 720 or 1080 - but it's not HD.

Your Boyfriends TV up-converts standard def. How do these look? Not as good as the real HD.

Get him one of the following:

- Toshiba HD-A3 (HD-DVD player): $199
- Sony PS3 (BluRay player0: $399
- HarmonyLogitech Remote: $130

The second link is apparently is the 'next years release' version of the previous one. The first one is well reviewed where as the second doesnt have as many but being the new version of the first one it should be as good/better? Just wondering whether its worth paying the extra £13 on top of the wireless adapter.
@Hunny : It's not the fact of money, its pointless me paying the extra £13 if theres no difference between the two models!

Answer
I would not purchase a Sony product. I never had a Sony product that have lasted me more than 3 years. When DVD first came out I purchase a Sony DVD player model 7000 and the following year the 7700 both cost me over $1,100 each. The first HDTV in the market by Sony, a 34" CRT HDTV for a price of $6,400. If you read yahoo questions you will find many Sony items with issue. My first Blu Ray disc player is by Panasonic, model BD-10. It is over 4 years old and played over 300 Blu Ray disc movies without one issue. When AVATAR came out many player had an issue playing the movie including Sony. My Panasonic had no issue at all. Hope this will help you out.

Should I keep my analogue dvd player or buy a new one?

Sheldon

Is it worth keeping my analogue dvd player/recorder which I will have to connect to a set top box or buy a good new dvd player/recorder?
I want everything that I have to be functional and enjoying what technology has to offer. I also have a dvd player with surround sound, an older stereo system with record player that I want all connected and working. Is this possible?

Answer
Replace your set-top box with a DVR. It should not cost much more per month.

Plan to get rid of your "dvd player with surround sound" because these $299 box systems are disk players - thats all. It wont take sound from your set-top box, or your HDTV. We get 20+ questions per week around here from people who bought these - then discover what they gave up for the low price.

Connecting Everything: Yes - it's possible but you need a few new devices.

I need a portable dvd player with usb connection that can play most of these formats: AVI, MKV, RMVB, RM, MPEG1,2,4, WMV, MP4, FLV. Or a portable dvd player that had VLC player on it or something like that.

Answer
You won't find it. Even computers have a problem with that, and need additional software (and software "players") to handle the various formats. On top of that, dozens of codecs are needed to keep up with changing software. The vast majority of DVD players are designed to handle only one standard, and portable ones, especially, wouldn't be portable anymore if they were required to be tethered to a computer USB in order to play.

Besides, the additional software capacity, and operating system to handle it, would make it expensive beyond compare. More like a portable computer with a DVD drive in it. You know, a laptop?

Can you use SD card on DVD player with USB adapter ? ANSWER this question, please?

Hobo

I have some SD cards, and I was thinking about using a USB card reader on my DVD player because my DVD player has only USB ports.

Additional information.
- My DVD player supports MP3 and it is a home theater
- My DVD player has NO SD card slots, so I'm planning to use a card reader on it.

Does a card reader work on an MP3 supporting DVD player?

Answer
If you use a card reader most devices would be able to read data from the SD card. To the device a SD card inside a card reader looks like a USB pen drive

But whether or not that device is able to interpret that data - that depends, on what exactly that model supports, format wise.

Can I bring my kid's gameboy & portable dvd player on a flight from the USA to Mexico?

Are there any guidelines regarding bringing & using a gameboy & portable dvd player on a flight. Probably not using the dvd player just for transportation but definitely using the gameboy.

Thank you.

Answer
Yes but you can't use them on take-off and landing. Easier if you pack them before boarding and bring them out once in the air.

You didn't say the age of the child but make sure s/he is used to wearing the headphones and understands to keep them on for watching the movie. You might want to bring an extra set. Same goes with the gameboy. They make annoying noises so please make it clear to him or her that the sound is to be kept turned down while onboard. Special rule just for the flight!

Electronics can be lifesavers when flying with kids but please make sure they're juiced up and/or bring extra batteries. It's such a bummer for the kid when those gizmos run out and there's still a lot of the flight left. Usually you can't recharge them onboard.

As an extra tip, bring a brand new movie and/or new game and present them once you pull them out of the bag onboard.

For more tips on flying, I have a totally non-commercial article on the subject, originally written for an expat publication. Feel free to check it out.

Have a great flight!

What is the best recommend dual DVD portable player for car?

Mari

My husband and I are taking our kids to Disney in June, I was wondering we have been window shopping for portable DVD players for the car. Preferably a dual. But for some reason every dual dvd player that we have seen has terrible reviews from other people. Out of chance does anyone have or know of a great dual portable dvd player for the car that you can say works great and really recommend? Thanks in advance.

Answer

How to remove the password of a dmg file?

I have a dmg file (3.7 GB) which is a video and I can play it on my mac, I am trying to burn it on a dvd so i can play it on a dvd player or my playstation, i am able to successfully burn it but it still doesn't play neither on a DVD player nor my playstation, i tried a pc too but still doesn't read it...the dmg file is encrypted, I was wondering if this was the problem, will decrypting solve this or there is another issue... any suggestion is very much appreciated!

Answer
To find the password of any encrypted file, contact the person who made it. I wish there was some other way, but there is not. The reason for the password is so you cannot use it without the password. The guy didn't put a password on it just to make you look around on websites and ask here at Yahoo Answers and waste half a day. He did it to STOP YOU FROM USING THE FILE. Why would he do that? No idea. Ask him.

"I have a dmg file (3.7 GB) which is a video"
Not really true. A DMG file is a disk image. The file INSIDE the disk image COULD be a movie file--or not. If it is a bunch of files, such as "VIDEO_TS" and others, it is a group of files that together make a DVD. Typically, you simply drag those files to a blank DVD and click the burn icon. To tell us what the heck is in the disk image, double-click it to mount it, and look at the file extension of the file (extension is the part AFTER the dot).

If this DMG has the folder "VIDEO_TS" and such, you can extract a compressed movie file from it using Handbrake.

To use a compressed movie file in Windows 7, these formats work....

"Windows Media Player 12 has built-in support for many popular audio and video formatsâincluding 3GP, AAC, AVCHD, MPEG-4, WMV, and WMA. It also supports most AVI, DivX, MOV, and Xvid files." --from the 1st link below

If the stuff inside the DMG is not a complete set of folders/files for a DVD, but is instead a compressed movie file, you can still use that file to make a DVD movie disc, although the quality will typically be lower than that of a commerical DVD movie disc. To make a DVD movie disc on a Mac....

-- If your computer is not 2011 or later model, it came with iDVD (which happens to be discontinued now). Use it. iMovie is the app that came with your Mac for editing movies. Then it has an option to Export to iDVD, which has a Help menu, and if that doesn't answer all your questions, use support.apple.com for "iDVD menus" or whatever your question is about.

-- If your 2011 or later computer came with no iDVD, use DVDStyler. It is a free (not a demo / trial) open-source alternative to iDVD for Intel Macs. It has most of the same options as iDVD, but not as many cool themes.

Can you please explain how to make this work step by step?

I have downloaded a movie in avi format and I want to make it work in my dvd player. I copied the movie on to an empty dvd and when I try to play it in my dvd player it doesn't play it simple says 'loading' !!! What do I do?!

Answer
Your DVD player does not have the codec [Its a video language - just like people have various languages codecs are languages for video players. An each type of video in encoded in various codecs. Since AVI is a container (equivelent to a person) it can be coded with those various codecs. But DVDs have a strict restrictions on which codec can be read. Its better you convert the AVI to a DVD specific.
There are alot of free DVD convertors available.

How much does it cost to put an overhead DVD player in a van?

Tabatha

I am getting ready to buy a Dodge Grand Caravan and would like to get an overhead DVD player installed in it. How much does something like this cost? Do you think it would be cheaper to get it done somewhere else or have the dealership do it when I buy it?
Not sure if it matters but I might be buying a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Answer
If you haven't purchased the vehicle yet, then this may work in your favor when negotiating with the dealership. Simply tell them that it's a feature that is necessary to have, and it's a deciding factor in your final vehicle selection. Newer vehicles do sometimes offer the option of having the overhead DVD player installed by the factory. Otherwise, maybe you can make a deal with a dealership to pay for an overhead DVD player install, or split the cost 50/50. The cheapest unit I've seen online was around $200 and install will probably run around $200.

Any suggestion for a portable DVD player for the car that allows game system hookup?

Would prefer a portable DVD system with dual screens, and would like to have it with a battery. I saw a perfect one by Venturer, an 8.4" dual screen system, but can't find it at any store online or otherwise. I tried to email Venturer, and message failed. I am at a loss for what other system might work. We want to take on a long road trip and let the kids hook up their game system for the hours on the road.

Answer
I only found the 9 inch. It does all the same as the 8, but the reviews on it were lousy.
Everyone had problems with the latch on the door cover of the DVD.

Here is another dual player. I don't know what your budget is but this will do the same. Reviews are 83% positive
Good Luck!

What are some activities for a long car ride with my 2 and 4 year old?

K-Mom

We have a portable DVD player that lasts a few hours before they get restless. I always bring books, as well. I am looking for some more creative ideas - ones that are not messy, inexpensive, and don't take up a lot of room!

Answer
a good idea also would be to wake them up extra early so that they will sleep part of the way. That will also give you some quiet time on the road. I know that my 4 year old likes video games, you might be able to get some portable inexpensive kid games. I know that there are some markers that only write on special paper, that would be fun for them.

What do you look for when buying a banjo?

best dvd player for elderly image

Rory P

I'd like to start playing banjo, but I have no idea what makes a good banjo. I'd like it to be inexpensive, but to have good overall value. What should I look for when buying a banjo, and what should I expect to pay for a basic one?

Answer
Guitarpicker's answer is pretty good, except that nowadays, a "standard" banjo, for bluegrass, old-time, or folk music, is a 5-string. 4-string tenor or plectrum banjos aren't used as much, except for Irish traditional music (tenor banjo tuned an octave below the fiddle G D A E, and played with a flatpick to pick out melodies), or Dixieland jazz (chords strummed with a pick and used as a rhythm instrument). Unless you know you want to play Irish fiddle tunes or Dixieland, chances are you want a 5-string.

5-string banjos come in 2 basic styles -- openback and resonator. Most folk and old-time clawhammer or frailing-style players tend to prefer openback banjos, while most bluegrass pickers want a banjo with a resonator. You can play either style on either type of banjo -- but most old-time players prefer the mellower, plunky sound of an openback banjo for clawhammer/frailing-style fiddle and song accompaniment, while OTOH, the quintessential sound of bluegrass music is that of the bright, crisp, LOUD sound of a resonator-back banjo played with metal finger- and thumbpicks.

Figure on spending $300 - $500 for a good beginner level banjo. I personally really like the Deering Goodtime banjos -- Deering is a well-respected brand name, their professional quality instruments are excellent, and their Goodtime line of beginner banjos are very good value for the money. I've played them and found them to be solidly constructed of quality materials, with a good sound. They come in openback and resonator-back models -- Elderly Instruments has the openback for $379, and the resonator model for about $529. Rover also makes a couple of inexpensive beginner instruments -- their openback model goes for about $200 and their resonator-back model for about $350, but I've never played them so I can't say anything about them. I also note that in the Elderly Instruments catalog, they offer a banjo package featuring a Gold Tone openback banjo, gigbag, strap, and instructional DVD for $340. Gold Tones are decent banjos, too.

http://elderly.com/departments/banjo

Ideally, what I would look for would be a wooden rim (the round body part of the banjo), as opposed to a cast aluminum rim; a brass hoop tone ring is nice to have, too, and so is a geared 5th string tuning peg. The banjo -- whether openback or resonator -- should feel solid and well constructed, not flimsy, and most importantly, you should like what it sounds like. If you don't like the way it sounds, you're not going to want to play it. Take a banjo-playing friend with you when you go to the music store to look at banjos, and have him/her play each one so you can listen to it.

What are the effects of the internet on the quantity and quality of real-life interpersonal relationships?

eroticohio

Please answer first in terms of your own life, then give your impression of the overall social trends.

Quantity: Do you think you meet more people (in person) because of the internet, or do you think you would meet more people if you just avoided the internet? You might want to consider the balance between opposing effects. On one hand, the time you spend on-line might reduce the time you spend in real-life social settings, but on the other hand, the internet might prompt you to get out and meet people that you might otherwise have never met (cuz they seem so cool in cyberspace).

Quality: Does the internet increase your chances of meeting those really special people who can became your best friends, lovers, soulmatesâ¦? Or do you think that, overall, the internet sends you on more wild-goose chases â making you think that maybe you would be socially better off to just forget about meeting people from on-line communities?

Answer
In terms of my own life: I only meet 'real' people, not 'virtual' ones. If I were not having transportation problems--caring for an elderly gent following heart surgery...I would not be on line often at all.

Overall: People are not getting enough exercise, social interaction, etc.--because they work all day, and then spend the remainder of their time on line.

The internet would NEVER prompt me to chance meeting a person from cyberspace in the 'real world'

The internet can be fun, but I cannot comprehend becoming involved with someone met on the net. No lovers, no soulmates, no best friends--they need to come from the 'real' world.

My computer is like my TV, stereo, DVD player, etc.--just a form of entertainment.

How to connect my Sony dvd player that is wireless, to my Sony TV that is not wireless?

Bryan

I have a Sony Bravia TV that does not have the built-in wireless function. However, the Sony 3D DVD player that I own does have the wireless function.

My question is before I spend $80 for the Sony Bravia wireless TV USB adapter that has terrible reviews, is there a way to connect the DVD player with the TV somehow so the TV can get the internet from the DVD player?

Thanks,

PS- Please don't say sorry we can answer any questions unless we have every little peace of information about the TV and the DVD player.

Just a simple yes or no will suffice.

Answer
"wireless" refers to a network connection. You still need use a HDMI cable to physically connect the player to the TV.

You can then configure your player to connect to your home's wireless (also called "wifi") network so it you can use its network applications like Facebook, or Netflix or whatever else it has installed.

While they do make "smart TVs" that have these same network features, you do not need both your TV and player to have them. Just one or the other. In your case the player will access the internet and display the contents on your TV.
