Answer
if you want to burn your video files to dvd disc, then play it on any DVD player, you should create a standard video DVD from your videos,
Media player cann't do this, and there is an easy way, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can create standard video DVD from any videos, it can directly convert and burn any videos to DVD(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-DL, DVD+DL, etc), such as avi to DVD, etc.
It can burn multi videos to one disc, and can auto fit the size.
Work well on my computer, easy to use, i like it. Following is a step by step guide about Video DVD Creator:

Wish to burn Movie MKV files to blank discs, and play them on a DVD Player?
Pennylessz
I have the Trilogy of The Lion King in MKV format, and I want to burn them onto a disc and play them on my DVD player, but I'm going to need a solution to doing this. I would prefer something simple but if it can't be then go ahead and tell me anyway.
Thank you.

your DVD player wont be able to play MKV files.
Any Video Converter

convert the MKV to DVD, this will create a _Audio and _Video folder, burn the folders onto the DVD.
a DVD will hold about 90 minutes of video, over this and you will either have to compress the video using something else like DVD shrink

open the converted dvd folder and then it should convert the video/DVD to fit a standard DVD-R, you can also use it to burn the video onto the disk.
dont forget to delete the files created on your HDD afterwards
