Is it possible to connect my dvd player to my laptop and then watch the dvd's on the laptop? (my dvd rom doesnt work:( )
If it is possible, what cable do i need?
Answer
A regular DVD player? You'd need some type of video input on your laptop, which is unlikely that it comes with one, so you'd need a video capture card type device (either PCMCIA or USB). Then you just run the video out on the DVD player to your video in and run the audio out to the line-in on your sound card. But the quality is gonna suck and you're going to be lugging around a lot of equipment and cables just to watch a DVD.
I think a better solution would be an external PCMCIA DVD-ROM drive or just replace the internal DVD drive (you should be able to find the drive on eBay and replacing it is not THAT hard if you have a little knowledge about taking things apart).

Do laptop dvd players play dvd's from any region?
Becky
Ok very strange and nerdy question, long story on why I want to know. Im not evenb really sure what is meant by the term region I have an advent if that helps.
thanks
Answer
No.
DVD players play from one region at a time. You can reset that region 4 times, before the firmware disables that particular DVD drive. It does not matter if it is a laptop DVD drive or a desktop DVD drive.
It does not matter if your laptop is an Advent, or a Toshiba, or an Acer or a Dell.
