The DVD/VCR player should have an antenna hook up in the back. Just hook the output of the tuner box into the VCR/DVD player like you would a normal antenna or cable. This should allow you to watch digital TV through the VCR . If it is just a DVD player and it does not have an antenna hook up you might have a hard time. All converter boxes and DVD players are different and they have different inputs and outputs. You can also get an input selector like the one shown here for around 20 dollars.http://www.nextag.com/Audio-Video-Selector-Switch-659073136/prices-html This will allow you to hook up 4 different video sources to your television.
Hope that this has helped and that I haven't just confused you with my ramblings.

Will a dvd player or vcr work as a tv tuner?
Nicole
I have a Toshiba 51HC85 CRT tv monitor/projector that doesn't have a place to plug in a coaxial cable. I have cable in my apartment that comes directly from the wall. If I get an old dvd player or a vcr can I use it as a tv tuner and then use a RCA (red, white, yellow) cable to hook it up to the tv? Will this work, and if so, how would I change the cable channels? Would I need the remote to the VCR or DVD player?
Answer
You might be able to use the tuner on an old vcr. You can't use a dvd player however, since it does not have a tuner. A dvd recorder might work though, since it is similar to a vcr and should have a tuner. Have you subscribed to cable service? If you haven't you would need to do that too unless your apartment gets cable as part of the agreement. Also, make sure they have not converted over to completely digital cable. If the cable company has, then you can't use anything but the cable box from the cable company.
addendum, forgot to address the changing of the channels. You would need the remote for the device that tunes the channels. Thus if you are using a vcr to do that, you would need the vcr remote.
