how difficult is it to install an in dash navigation/dvd player?

Brian

I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer and I am considering purchasing an in dash nav unit, but I'm not sure I want to pay Best Buy $200-$300 to install it on top of buying the unit. I have installed basic car stereos in the past, but I have never installed a video/nav unit. I guess I am just asking, if it is really that much different than a basic car stereo installation? I wont be including a back up camera at this time, and from what I have seen it sounds like there is a wire that is "supposed" to be attached to the parking brake to prevent DVD's from being watched while driving, and that I will probably just bypass. So is there anything else I should know about installing one of these units?

Answer
since you have some experience in installing, install a dash nav unit should be no problem, just make sure it fits in your car so you don't any problems with the physical install, the wiring is pretty much the same, there are just some mores devices to be wired to the radio which you need to plug in into their respective sockets at the back

is it possible to install a poineer in dash navigation/dvd player in 2003 honda civic. Model #: PIO AVICD3?

I am wondering if it ll fit in the dash well....Is it possible to remove teh storage pocket below the cd player?

Answer
If you want the in dash dvd you have to go with the flip out, and since you can close the screen in an unfamiliar neighborhood your less likely to get jacked
