I purchased an open box dvd bluray with wifi from ebay. I noticed that after winning the item most other dvd players with wifi were open box too from the same vendor. Iwas wondering if passwords used on the system ie netflix etc could be compromised?

Not likely. The reason they are open box is because the seller probably bought them at an auction because most stores don't sell open box items.

I have a really old tv in my room that doesn't have internet/wifi in it and i want to watch movies on it. If i were to get a built in wifi dvd player and hooked it up, could I stlll be able to use the internet?

As long as the DVD player can connect to the TV, and the DVD player can connect to wifi, yes. Wifi has nothing to do with connecting the TV to the DVD player. BTW, I've not seen a dvd player with wifi & internet. You probably will need to upgrade to a Blu Ray player with wifi, or if you don't care about playing dvd's & blu ray discs, something like a Roku box.
