The Dude
I just bought an imported dvd and now I need a region free dvd player for my TV. Know where I can buy one around the Los Angeles area?
Answer
you wont be able to fine a region free dvd player in any local store, but you can buy it online for very low prices. Here is good place where i got mine from, i got it in 3 days, and it was free shipping. And the dvd player works perfectly plays all region, code free, and the quality is great. Here is the one i got.

But if you dont need a HD 1080P up convert dvd player, then they also have this one,

I would definetly recommend this place for region free dvd players, their shipping is fast and they customer service is great.

Interested in buying region free Japanese anime. Will I be able to play on my DVD player?
DemonBookL
I've found a website that looks pretty legitimate that carries the Japanese anime box sets I'm interested in. Although they are coded as region free I'm still concerned they might not work in my DVD player. Also, I'm worried that if they do work in my player I won't be able to navagate the menu to turn on the English subtitles. I'd hate to waste the money on something I can't use and would love to hear from anyone who has had experience in this.
Do they sometimes have English and Japanese menus?
Answer
If the DVD is free of region encoding, then you should be able to play it on any DVD player.
As for the menus, that's going to come down to whether they were designed well and whether they have English or only Japanese.
As for the subtitles, many DVD remotes have a subtitle button to let you easily toggle through the subtitle options.
EDIT
I don't know if they have Japanese and English menus, but if the DVD was intended to be sold in US markets, it's very possible they do. Again, this comes down to how the DVD was designed. But even if all the menus are in Japanese, it should still play on your DVD player if it doesn't have region encoding.
