How do I connect my dvd player to my computer?

I have an HP compaq presario desktop windows xp computer. My dvd drive is not working. I have an s-video input plug in the back of the computer. Is it possible to connect the dvd player to the computer and watch movies on it?

No...that S-Video jack is for output only.

Is there a dvd maker program I can use for windows xp?

Q. I have windows movie maker 2.1 and have windows xp. I don't have vista, which comes with windows dvd maker. My movie maker doesn't give me the option to make a root menu page, so I can burn it to play on a computer but not a tv dvd player. Is there another program that I can use to make dvd's with the movies I make?
