Where do I find the decoder for media center?

After reformatting a Dell and reinstalling windows xp everything is working great except the DVD player on media center needs a decoder. I'm thinking that it should be on one of the CDs I have here but I can't find it. Can you offer any advise for this? Thank you.
I tried the advise of all 3 posters here and it's not working. Any other options I can try?

That software would have come with the DVD burner- probably a copy of Nero or Roxio.

look friend i don't know what Winn DVD talk about but i know that the best software for music and camera videos is window media player download it is the best thing you do you can leave WINN DVD

and if you download internet videos you should have a a flv player download the realplayer or flv player
