best buy portable dvd player canada image

i am moving from canada to italy for i don't know how long. i have an american player that won't play italian dvds and i buy an italin player, i would have to buy italin dvds and i dont want to spend the $$ to rebuild my collection from scratch.
so i am going to bring my portable dvd player but have like 100 dvds. i am not getting them shipped to me so my options are either, bring all 100 dvds in a cd wallet, without the cases (leaving the empty cases in canada maybe forever) or just bring my fave 20 or so, cases and all.
to the pretentious person who told me to explore europe without dvds... im MOVING there forever. i ll want to watch a movie now and then.
Answer
Take your 20 faves, then whenever people come to visit you in Italy ask them to bring some more. When you go back for a visit grab some more. If you move back to Canada send them to your new address in the mail.

Driving to Canada with laptop?
wingman
My family is going to drive to Canada this week. I'm bringing my laptop, portable dvd player, digital camera, ipod, and nintendo ds.
Do I need to register these or something or fill out documents? And if I bring souvenirs back to the US, do I have to "declare" them? I don't really get this...
And for us to go into Canada by car, do we have to fill out certain documents or can we just show them the required identification?
Answer
Years ago I was told to take the receipt for my camera when I went to the States, just to prove that they were not purchased there. I usually do that but I've never been asked. If any of your things are brand new it might be worth carrying the receipts just in case but I doubt you will be required to show them.
Usually you just show your passport and answer a few questions - where do you live? where are you going? and what is the purpose of your visit? When you come back, they will ask where you have been? What have you bought? and are you bringing alcohol or tobacco products back? There are limits to how much you can bring back,

Bon Voyage!
