I am using the converter software to convert video to burn on a dvd but i am not sure which is the format to use to burn on my dvd so it will play on my dvd player? avi, mpeg, which one?

Do I just buy reg. blank CD's? Or do I buy some special type fit to run with a DVD player. Avi files only.

You should not need any special type of blank CD.

Do be aware that not all DVD players can play AVI files. And for the ones that can, there are some codec requirements. You can't use just any codec and for the codecs that are supported there are some limitations on what they can handle.
