I would like to plug my x box 360 into my portable dvd player and these are the things on the player where i can plug things in: AV out AV in, DC out 5 V, Coaxial, and DC in 9 v any suggestions?

Answer
Typically the "AV IN" port on these portable devices will be something that looks similar to a headphone jack.

The DVD player should have come with a cable that has a RCA cable (yellow, red, white) on one side and a headphone type connector on the other side. If you can't find it, consider contacting the manufacturer to purchase a new one.

It may be possible to use a third party cable adapter like this one: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/24-9760&CAWELAID=220294838 but the 'pole' configuration on the third party cables may be different to that of the player manufacturer's cable, so there are no guarantees it will work.

What is the best portable DVD player to get?
