DVD/VHS player?

jerryreed1

i want a DVD/VHS player that will record my old VSH to DVD?
is there suck thing?

if so can you guys tell me some sites that sell them?

thanks

Answer
Hi jerryreed13,

You can buy a combination VHS/DVD recorder everywhere. WalMart carries several kinds. The simplest and best way is to simply get a DVD recorder. You can find them everywhere for less then $100. You will feed the output of your VHS player into the input of your DVD recorder to copy tapes.

If you are wanting to copy pre recorded tapes you will need to bypass the copy guard. It is legal as long as you are backing up your own tapes.

Then you will need a device like "Sima T120 GoDVD". It removes the copy guard and enhances the picture. You plug your source into it and plug it into the input of your recorder.

Here is an example of one - http://www.heartlandamerica.com/browse/item.asp?PIN=54817&

Another one that will work is the Digital Video Stabilizer. They work like a charm. Go here to read about and see an example - http://www.qualitekindustries.com/vidstab.html

I'm looking into purchasing a dvd player for an upcoming trip. I don't have tons of money, but I want a decent player. I want the dual monitors. I have found one at walmart.com and I wanted ot know if anyone has the player or if they have every used it. The player is a Venturer PVS-6271. If you have used it, please send me a review. I want to make sure I am making a good choice. Thanks!

Answer
Get a philips dvd player. http://www.consumer.philips.com/consumer/catalog/tree/HOME_AUDIO_VIDEO_GR_US_CONSUMER/DVD_PLAYERS_RECORDERS_CA_US_CONSUMER/product/DVP642_37_US_CONSUMER/catalog.jsp?language=en&country=US&catalogType=CONSUMER&proxybuster=H0BBKBXK1DUJRJ0RMRESHQNHKFSEKI5P
it is good because it can play all regions if unlocked. (get the code at www.videohelp.com) it reads all types of media. descent price. Works all the time. Strongly recommend it.

ON THE GO DVD PLAYERS FOR TODDLERS?

rican shaw

I HEARD ABOUT VIDEO NOW, BUT IT ONLY PLAYS TV SHOWS. DO YOU KNOW OF ANY PORTABLE DVD PLAYERS ON THE GO FOR TODDLERS! MY SON ALWAYS GETS BORED AND I WOULD LOVE FOR HIM TO BE ENTERTAINED WITH MOVIES!

Answer
Fisher Price makes a Kid-Tough portable DVD player that retails at Walmart for $129.00 which is said to withstand a fairly good beating.

And I know this next part is completely unsolicited and might earn me some displeasure from my fellow posters, however I feel compelled to say it; the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that your child watches no more than 1-2 hours of quality programming a day. Instead of the DVD player, perhaps purchase some CDs for car rides that you can sing along with or have a small selection of books that are for car rides only. My kids do both and this allows us to interact more in the car and has helped them to learn how to sing their ABC's as well as count to 20 in English, Spanish and German by age 2 1/2. TV in small doses is fine, but we shouldn't rely on it to entertain our children. If they have to be entertained at such a young age by television what will they be like when they are teenagers?

Portable DVD Players?

I am looking for a portable DVD player for under $200 (I'm poor) that I can play movies on while I am at work. It doesn't have to have a car kit, I just need a small one to sit on my desk.

Which ones would you recomend?

I also heard there was one that also had a I Pod doc on it? I have an I Pod but its a nano.

Answer
The iPod compatable DVD player is only $140 to $150 depending on if you buy it in store or online. Its made by Philips and has a 7" screen. Walmart has many others that aren't iPod compatable for a cheaper price.

I am looking for a place to buy an All region DVD Player, would regular places like WalMart carry them? Is there a something specific I should look for under the dvd specifications to indicate it can play all regions? Thank you!

Answer
The eBay store below has quite a selection of all region DVD players.

Is there any point in buying an expensive DVD player?

I bought my DVD player from walmart 4 years ago for 20 bucks and it still works perfectly. All DVD players play DVD's so why would any pay more than 20 bucks for one?

Another thing too; if anything happens to my DVD player well it was only 20 bucks...other people spend over 100 bucks on theres so if that goes out they gotta shell out more dough.

Answer
At this point, no.

It's more financially better to buy a Blu-Ray player as it plays both DVD and Blu-Ray and it can usually upscales the DVD's movies and shows or whatever.

Or if you are a gamer, you should buy a PS3 or an Xbox 360. It has the DVD capability that you might be interested in.
