Anyone care to recommend a good brand of portable dvd player for in a car?

The vcr in my van died so I want to replace it but have thought about those dual screen portable dvd players. that way, my kids can borrow them for THEIR kids when taking a trip.
Any thoughts?

Me and my family are moving across country and we are taking a car. We need a dual screen portable dvd player that can play 2 movies at once. It also needs to have headphone jacks. Does anyone know a an affordable candidate?

If you want to watch two movies at ones, you want two separate DVD players, preferably different brands so remotes do not conflict.

All portable DVD players have headphone jacks. Most also have an A/V connection which can be set for input or output, so both players you get can be linked to play the same movie on both screens.

I have an older model van and didn't want to put the expense into installing a DVD player in it permanently. We looked into portable DVD players but they seemed unstable and would mount lower than we wanted (most of them mounted in-between the front head rests so that people in the back seat would have a hard time seeing the screen) When we were getting ready to drive to Utah with small children we realized we needed something to keep them entertained. Then we found a dual screen portable DVD player and we love it. It is an RCA 7" 16:9 Portable DVD Player with Dual TFT-LCD Monitors. The two screens can be mounted separately and attach to headrests. (We put one on the front seat headrest and the second on the middle seat headrest) The screen is also the DVD player so there are only the two parts with a cable running between them. The nice thing about the one that we bought is that you can take it with you into a hotel room and it will play the DVD on a regular TV and it also comes with video games that can be played either while the second screen is watching a movie or displayed on a TV. (the video games aren't high graphics but are geared towards younger kids, although we had fun playing them too. Some of them are 80's knock-offs like frogger and centipede) The $200 was well worth the hours of quiet (non-fighting) travel time. Good luck!

I am looking for either a mountable or headrest-inserted DVD player for my car. I would prefer if each screen could play separate movies, but that is not a contingency. The main thing is that I would like to be able to control the player from the front seat without having to turn around and push any buttons (stopping to change DVD is ok). Cost is a factor, but quality and features are a must. Thanks.

I have a sylvania dual screen dvd player now, and it's HORRIBLE! I had it 3 months and it has completely stopped working. I would like a flat screen one that can easily attach to the headrest! Anyone have any good ideas?

Would prefer a portable DVD system with dual screens, and would like to have it with a battery. I saw a perfect one by Venturer, an 8.4" dual screen system, but can't find it at any store online or otherwise. I tried to email Venturer, and message failed. I am at a loss for what other system might work. We want to take on a long road trip and let the kids hook up their game system for the hours on the road.

I only found the 9 inch. It does all the same as the 8, but the reviews on it were lousy.
Everyone had problems with the latch on the door cover of the DVD.

Here is another dual player. I don't know what your budget is but this will do the same. Reviews are 83% positive

My husband and I are taking our kids to Disney in June, I was wondering we have been window shopping for portable DVD players for the car. Preferably a dual. But for some reason every dual dvd player that we have seen has terrible reviews from other people. Out of chance does anyone have or know of a great dual portable dvd player for the car that you can say works great and really recommend? Thanks in advance.

My wife and I are lalso taking the kids to Disney in June and I have been shopping for a dual dvd system. I know that as a norm, you get what you pay for but there has to be a decently priced sytem that has good ratings. Keep me updated please if make a decision and I will do the same.
