i'm taking a road trip and want to buy a portable dvd for the kids. below is the description. when it says car adaptor does this mean i can plug it into the lighter?

Should I buy a portable DVD player or laptop to entertain my kids for vacation travel?

I would like something that plays DVDs, but not sure if it's worth it to instead purchase a laptop with DVD playing capability. That way we can use it for the internet, and games as well.

I would suggest the laptop because you can do a lot with it. It will cost way more than just a portable DVD player. Also, keep in mind that portable DVD players will run much longer oin a charge. Most laptops won't even play a full DVD before dying on battery power.

If you are looking to go cheap and keeps the kids quiet, get a portable DVD player. A headphone splitter will allow them both to listen and you don't have too. Also, there is very little support or troubleshooting needed when using a basic device like this.

If you have money to burn, get a laptop for em, but it will never run tat long on one battery while spinning the DVD, lighting the screen, running the processor, etc... You will also be opening up a can of worms as far as protecting your children from the internet..

Any ideas on how to keep my 1-year-old entertained during a very long trip?

Q. We're leaving in a couple of days and the trip takes 8 hours (driving). I don't have a TV in the car, nor a portable DVD player and can't afford ot buy one. Plus she's not supposed to watch too much TV anyway. I'll be in the backseat with her, I just need to know what I can do to make it as pleasant a trip as possible. Thanks!

Kids looooove looking out the window. Sit with her and point out things together ("Look at the big bus! Look at the cow!" etc haha). Somehow that seems to entertain little kids for hours...as long as you act excited about it she will also feel excited looking at everything.

After that, bring some CDs of kid's songs that you can sing. Some of her favorite music or something that you can sing with her with hand motions. And of course some toys and books to look at, and healthy snacks and napping will fill in the time as well.

Can you hook up two separate portable dvd players to play one movie at the same time?

I wanted to use portable dvd players so my kids can watch them in the car. I already have one portable dvd player and i was just wondering if i can buy another portable dvd player and some kind of cable to sync them ? or would i have to buy the dual screen dvd players?

In general the answer is no as those devices are output only.

The cheapest solutions are two copies of the same movie or a portable monitor slaved off one player.

Then again you could do digital down loads on lap tops

Does anyone know of a laptop holder or harness for my car?
