I just loaded Ubuntu and I don't know what I must do to use the DVD player again. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

You have to enable "Universe" under apt-get, then get VLC or MPlayer.
Both of those will ignore the region code of the player if necessary.

your computer would need to be able to output via those connection. there is two ways i can think of to do this, 1 there might be an adapter for vga, or 2 you could by a card and intall it in your computer, unless you are using a laptop
