New upconvert dvd player with old dvd player surround sound system?

Q. I just bought a Sony Upconvert DVD player for a new LCD that I just bought. We had a 5 disc DVD player with surround sound before. How can I still utilize the surround sound with the new player? It has an HDMI output which goes straight to the TV. And when I try to plug the tv audio outputs into the Samsung (old player) audio inputs...the sound is all jacked. Is there a way to maybe buy a samsung upconvert that has access for the speakers?

The only way to play the sound as it did before is to send the digital soundtrack to the surround system while it is still digital. The sound coming from the TV has already been processed and is now analog. If your surround system has a digital input on the back (coax or optical is fine) you will have to connect the output from the DVD player directly to it. If the system doesn't have either connector it will not work.
You may still be able to improve the sound though. You may have the TV set to a pseudo surround mode or set to variable when it should be fixed. Check those if the surround is digital deficient. Good Luck.

I had downloaded the video I wanted and put it on itunes. I tried burning the video I got from Youtube onto a dvd-r. Then I tried to play it in a dvd player and it wouldn't work. What am I doing wrong?
