I was wondering if it was possible to hook up a video game console to my laptop so that I can just use the screen of my laptop instead of a nine inch portable dvd player to play the game. I don't really have room for a TV other wise I would use that.
I generally use Linux but also run Windows occasionally.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks,

Answer
yes you can, there is probably multiple ways but you need to know you can never expect it as good quality as a real tv meant for that. Also depending on the quality of your laptops screen, it may have delay or lag with the console sending the info and your screen receiving it.

Here is one item that can do this for you, as far as I heard its one of the best for this but its not cheap

about 99 dollars, you were probably wanting to just plug vga or hdmi into your laptop and it works with some kind of download, but no you cant do it with just software, the laptop monitor meant to be used like that. you can buy a 1080p pc monitor and use that as your consoles screen for only 200 dollars+ the audio adapter for your speakrs, which would be much better than paying 99 dollars to play it on your laptop.

Is there a Linux printer driver that can print to JPEGs, one per page?

ricochet

I know there are some 'virtual printer driver' programs that look like another named printer and can print web-pages, word-processor documents or anything to PDF files instead of paper, but do you know one that can print directly to a set of JPEG images of the pages, one JPEG per page?

I'm experimenting with displaying text/web pages on a digital photo frame, JPEG CDs or flash drive in a DVD Player and a few other things.

Answer
You can print to a PostScript file, then use Ghostscript (gs executable) to convert to JPEG:

gs -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=jpeg -sOutputFile=file.jpg file.ps

Various additional options will let you set the resolution and other options. You can also do this to various other formats, like PNG or TIFF.

i have a ton of blank DVD's and a wmv of the video. How do i burn it to the dvd so i can play it on a dvd player? im running windows 7 64 bit. and the software needs to be FREE.

Answer
Use Windows DVD Maker.

I am using a tool called DVD Creator which lets me burn WMV and all other kinds of videos to DVD easily. Any format you want, it can burn to DVDs. Supports Single and Dual Layer Disc. Easy to use and professional. It lets you burn multiple WMV movies on one DVD disc. And it's fast.

Once you've burnt the DVD, you can watch it on DVD player through TV.

You may give it a try. Check out the step by step guide at:

Best of luck.

How to CORRECTLY burn a DVD on windows 7?

hollya707

I just got a new windows 7 laptop.I have some Movies that have been taken with the digital camera and the flip video, I tried twice last night to burn them but Every time i did (Using Roxio) It would burn them as data CD, I believe because they would not play on the DVD player. Roxio is not really giving me a choice except for the drag method. Am I doing it wrong or is there another way I could go about this ?

Thanks

Answer
You can use E.M. Free Video Converter for Divx DVD to burn videos to dvd disc, it is very easy to use, also there is a good video converter E.M. HD Video Converter can convert video to dvd.
