Region Free DVD player question.?

Q. What is the best region free DVD player (NOT blu gay) player for a Panasonic TV?

Answer
For DVD, I don't think it really matters anymore. My father in law has one from iView and has yet to find a disc it can't play. I think he got it at some random Chinese bookstore for $35 or so. You can find them online as well.

I had an OPPO brand player (they're made in the US!) but it died. Pity, because it was an excellent DVD player.

I replaced the OPPO with a region free blu-ray player from Orei for $150 or so. OPPO no longer makes region-free DVD players, and their region-free blu-ray player is still $500. (but it's really nice!)

Do computers sold in Hong Kong have region-free DVD players?

Q. I am aware that DVD players (the type you connect to a TV) sold in Hong Kong are mostly region-free.

Is the same true for computers sold in Hong Kong?

Thanks for your answers!

Answer
NO, all of the DVD drives have an encoded region, However... you can load the DVD region free software that bypasses the region code and then they will play any region. Go to: http://www.dvdidle.com/

Where can I find a cheap dvd player that has region free hacks available?

For my birthday I got a ton of great dvds that I've wanted forever... sadly, they are region 2 dvds. (There was no way they could be found in Region 1, we looked EVERYWHERE.) Unfortunately my dvd player doesn't have any region free hacks. Everyone has been telling me how easy it is to just buy some cheap dvd player and turn it region free. Well, I can't find any!!
Does anyone know where I can find a reasonably cheap (under $70) dvd player that has region free hacks available?

Thanks!

P.S. If someone can show me a link to where I can buy one online that would be great, but I don't mind trekking to get it. (I live in Ottawa, so it has to be a Canadian store if it's not available online.)

Answer
Make a note of what models are available at local stores, like. Walmart, Canadian Tire, Superstore (Loblaws?). Then check for that model at http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks (or just google the model number and region free).

However, I think the best solution is to make a copy of the DVD, since that removes the region encoding altogether. Then you can play the DVD on any player, not just the region-free one. If you really have a ton of DVDs, this may not be practical.

I'm looking to get some "region 3" DVDs, but I need a dvd player that is region free, and able to play on my TV's without any type of converters... Do you have any suggestions on where to buy and a good model and good price?

Answer
First see what models brands/model number the local store is selling. Then go to www.videohelp.com and look up those models under Hacks in the column on the left. Many players can be made regionfree with a code entered from the remote control.

I found mine by going to walmart.com, checking the models I could pick up in the store against www.videohelp.com, and bought a Philips player for about $30. Entered the code I found and have no problem playiing any region dvd.

How do i make my dvd player region free?

Brian

I am a huge film fan, and love foreign films. There are a lot i cannot get in the U.S.A. though because i'm region one, and the other countries aren't. I have a sony DVP-NS57P DVD player. does anybody know the code or some other way to get this as region free?

Answer
I don't think there is a code can let your sony DVP-NS57P DVD player become region free, you have to make region free DVDs from foreign DVDs, then can play the region free DVDs on any region dvd player(include region 1 dvd player, etc), if you don't know how to do that, you can follow me to use RZ DVD COPY, it can remove region code limit and copy DVD to a new DVD disc. You can yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD COPY, easy to use, hope it can help you.

I would love to find a good region free DVD player and I don't want to purchase it off the net. I hear you can get great ones from Target or Best Buy or Circuit City, all you have to do is punch in a region free code with your remote. Any help would be awesome!

Answer
If you google region free dvd player codes or similar a couple websites come up listing the players and the codes. I would use that and cross reference to the DVD player you like in the shop to work out which one you want.

how can you modifiy a DVD player to play any regions DVD?

I would like to know how to turn a region 1 dvd player into a region free player, the player I would turn is a Magnavox MWD200GA.

Answer
Well, its possible, but to quote a very good source,
"It is possible, but unless you're an engineer, it's not recommended. Far too many people attempt to do this and end up damaging their DVD players. Also, by attempting to modify it yourself, you void any manufacturer's warranty."

from http://www.zonefreedvd.com/codefreedvd/regionfreedvdfaq.html#b

And according to http://www.dvddemystifiziert.de/codefree_en/magnavox.html
there are no known hacks for the MWD200GA at all. Sorry.

Just buy a region free player- they are available and are easy to find.

I have a Packard Bell A8 Easynote laptop with a Philips +-RW SDVD8431 DVD drive. Is there some way to make the dvd player region free? I only have one more change left before I am locked out.

Answer
It can depend on the age of your DVD rom.
Have a look at the following website
http://www.gromkov.com/faq/faq2004-0063.html
Especially the section
How to bypass DVD region code protection ?
'VideoLan player' and 'remote selectors' are pieces of software which may help.

Hope this helps
